The European Academy of Nursing Science consists of individuals who are actively involved in research in the practice of nursing. The Academy consists of Full Members, Honorary members and Student Members.

Full members. to be a full member of EANS you must be:

  1. a Registered Nurse or Midwife according to the definition of your country to include the broad spectrum of professional qualifications such as nursing, mental health nursing, midwifery, health visiting, community and family nursing;
  2. a European national from a country defined as such by the Council of Europe;
  3. qualified at doctoral level.

Full Members are admitted to the Academy in recognition of their contribution to nursing science. Full Members constitute the Academy; have full voting rights, may stand for election to any position on the Board of EANS, have access to the Academy for the organisation of scientific meetings, have the right to attend scientific meetings of the Academy and the right to use of the Academy’s information services.

Honorary members. To be an honorary member you must be:

  1. a recognised researcher or scholar, who has made an outstanding contribution to Nursing Science in Europe

Honorary members are invited to be members by the Academy in recognition of their contribution to nursing science. They are not constituent members of the Academy and have no voting rights. They have the right to attend scientific meetings of the Academy and they may use the Academy’s information services.

Student members. To be a student member you should be:

  1. a Registered Nurse or Midwife according to the definition of your country to include the broad spectrum of professional qualifications such as nursing, mental health nursing, midwifery, health visiting, community and family nursing;
  2. a European national from a country defined as such by the Council of Europe;
  3. currently undertaking but not yet achieved a doctoral qualification;
  4. attending or having completed the three year EANS summer school within the last six years.

Student members are not constituent members of the Academy and have no voting rights. They have the right to attend scientific meetings of the Academy and they may use the Academy’s information services.

 

 

Joining EANS

  1. Read the full descriptions of membership options on the Full Member and Student Member pages
  2. Complete the relevant downloadable application form
  3. When you receive your membership letter, pay your fees using one of the methods below

DO NOT PAY ANY FEES UNTIL YOUR MEMBERSHIP HAS BEEN CONFIRMED

Fees:

  • The Full and Honorary Membership fee is 105 Euro/year (from January until December)
  • Fellows Membership fee (retired) is 53 Euro/year
  • Student Membership fee is 25 Euro/year
  • You will be charged the relevant fee on joining EANS. If you opt for the convenient PayPal method the annual fee for subsequent years will be collected automatically on the anniversary of your first payment.
  • If you opt for another method of payment we will request payment for you in January each year.

Payment can be done in 2 ways:

  • By Credit Card or by existing PayPal account:
    • Go to the member section of the EANS Website. This is password protected. You will have been given your password in your joining letter from the President. Please click on the PayPal button, select the right option and then follow the instructions.
  • By International Bank transfer (when using IBAN and BIC codes, this is free of charge).
    • Please write a reference for the payment as: “your name, EANS membership fee”

Your membership starts from the date you pay your fee for the first time. The web based PayPal system will set up an automatic payment schedule from this date
